About Us

About Phoenix Women’s Chorus
Founded in 1993 as TLC (The Lesbian Chorus) through the Lesbian Resource Project, Phoenix Women’s Chorus began as a safe affirming space and sisterhood for lesbian singers in Phoenix, Arizona. What started as a modest gathering—including courageous “Hidden Singers” who hid their sexuality to protect their jobs and families—quickly blossomed into a welcoming place for women of all races, ethnicities, and sexualities.

Over the years, TLC evolved into Phoenix Women’s Chorus (PWC), Arizona’s first lesbian-identified women’s chorus. Today, we celebrate a rich legacy that spans more than three decades, nurturing not just musical talent, but also deep community bonds and social change through our performances .

Our Mission & Purpose
Our Mission at PWC is to "cherish our Lesbian heritage." Phoenix Women’s Chorus is a nurturing sisterhood, providing diverse choral programs, empowering all women, embracing inclusivity, and educating our communities through the universal language of music."

As an organization, we commit to providing community-based cultural programs intended to empower women, to educate our communities regarding diversity, and to foster the elimination of prejudice and discrimination.
